Save yourself from the sniffles with aromatherapy

If you're like me, this time of year you're either battling a cold or have a child or spouse who's fighting a stuffy nose and other pesky symptoms. No matter how much vitamin C I take, something always seems to get me. I've suffered two bouts with the sniffles already this year, both of them contracted from my husband, who usually gets better in a day or two, while the effects linger for me for days!

Thankfully there are lots of natural remedies that, even though they won't cure your cold, will at least make your time getting better a little more pleasant. Organic essential oil blends with eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint, tea tree, lavender and the like are great for easing breathing and also have an germ-killing effect. While you can simply place a drop on a warm, wet towel and breathe in the benefits, warm aromatherapy baths have the benefit of extra steam to help open the lungs and nasal passages, and a steamy shower with an aromatherapeutic salt scrub can be truly head clearing.

Nature's Basin has some great pure essential oil products that make it easy to ease the sniffles. Use Breathe Bath Salt and Breathe Bath Oil alone or combine for a shower scrub. Or try a tub with Organic Sniffle Bath Essence (also good for use on a wet towel or in basin of warm water to ease breathing). And don't go to bed without Organic Sniffles Baby Chest Balm with the added boost of myrrh and cypress essential oil. It's designed for little ones but great for grown-ups, too.

Wishing you comfortable colds this winter, and above all, good health!
